Republican billionaire Donald Trump defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton in the state of Iowa Tuesday, inching closer to winning the White House in a shock upset, television networks projected.
The midwestern US state has six Electoral College votes, moving the Manhattan property mogul closer to the total of 270 needed to claim the US presidency.

Tokyo stocks nosedived Wednesday as Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump appeared to be closing in on victory in the knife-edge race for the White House.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index plummeted 5.5 percent, or 949.36 points, to 16,222.02 in afternoon trading.
