Uganda Baati moves to impart construction knowledge

The training aims to equip fundis with the latest construction sector knowledge

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT |  Uganda Baati Limited, a provider of building solutions, has embarked on a series of regional training sessions aimed at equipping fundis (builders) with up-to-date market trends and knowledge to enhance the value they offer their customers during construction.

These trainings, targeting over 2,500 fundis nationwide, are part of the company’s ongoing initiative to educate and support these professionals, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet customer needs in line with current market demands.

During a training session in Bulindo-Kampala, Patrick Katende, Head of Service Centers at Uganda Baati Limited, praised the fundis for their commitment to delivering high-quality service. He emphasized the importance of these sessions in providing fundis with the skills necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.

“Fundis are key in helping customers make informed decisions about product choices during the construction phase. These sessions provide them with the latest product updates, insights, and market trends, allowing them to grow, succeed, and deliver exceptional service, while also improving the housing landscape in their regions,” Katende explained.

He added, “Our training engagements focus on roofing solutions and after-sales support processes. We also encourage fundis to share insights on field challenges and customer preferences, which helps us tailor our building solutions to better meet customer needs.”

One of the participants, Daniel Serunkuma, a fundi based in Kira, shared his experience: “Previously, my customers used to import roofing sheets from South Africa, which caused delays in my work. Since I introduced them to quality products from Uganda Baati and other locally-made materials, the transition has been smooth, and my work is now faster and more efficient.”

Katende further noted, “As building projects continue throughout the year, we recognize the importance of keeping these professionals equipped and motivated. We have great confidence in this network of fundis and recommend them to customers in need of expert assistance. So far, we have conducted pieces of training in Hoima, Fort Portal, Mbarara, and various showrooms across Kampala. We plan to continue these engagements in other regions such as Gulu, Arua, and Masaka.”
