HOUSING FEATURE  | THE INDEPENDENT | Roofing products manufacturer and supplier Uganda Baati Limited has demonstrated its commitment by offering a new product dubbed ‘Lifestile Shingles’ to the Ugandan market, a development that has widened its offering to homeowners and builders, it said on Oct.26.

Uganda Baati Limited is a member of the Safal Group of companies that has operations in Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.

Founded in 1964 – Uganda Baati was the first company in the East African region to set up an ultra-modern Continuous Galvanizing line, according to information on its website.

Macklean Kukundakwe, the head of marketing at Uganda Baati said, “The pitch of a roof is a critical consideration in any construction project, influencing both aesthetics and functionality. Lifestile Shingles stands out as a versatile roofing solution, as they can be effectively used on roofs with pitches as low as 10 degrees.”

When coupled with a reliable waterproofing underlay like Uganda Baati’s Minicorr, Lifestile Shingles offer a combination of durability and adaptability in the roofing industry according to a statement shared by the company.

Lifestile Shingles distinguish themselves by their exceptional adaptability to a wide range of roof pitches.

Roof pitch refers to the angle or slope of a roof surface, typically expressed as a ratio of rise over run. It plays a crucial role in determining how effectively a roof sheds water, withstands weathering, and contributes to the overall aesthetics of a structure.

With a minimum requirement of just 10 degrees, Lifestile Shingles can be utilized on roofs with a relatively low slope, providing homeowners and builders with more design options.

To ensure optimal performance on low-pitched roofs, it is crucial to reinforce Lifestile Shingles with a reliable waterproofing underlay. Uganda Baati’s Minicorr underlay is specially designed to provide an additional layer of protection against water infiltration, ensuring that the roof remains impervious to leaks even during heavy rains according to company executives.

The adaptability of Lifestile Shingles to low-pitched roofs offers architects and builders greater flexibility in designing diverse and visually appealing structures. This versatility empowers creative architectural expressions and allows for the incorporation of various roof styles to complement the overall aesthetic of the building.

Unveiled recently, ‘Lifestile Shingles’ is set to attract the attention of homeowners and could shake the market for roofing materials according to sector experts.
