Uganda gears up for NAM, G77 summits

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A new Passenger Terminal Building at Entebbe International Airport is among the facilities that will welcome delegates attending the Non-Aligned Movement conference in Uganda. 10,000 delegates and 50 Heads of State are expected to arrive in Uganda for the NAM summit that takes place between Jan. 15-20. Its theme is “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence.”

The summit will be hosted at the newly constructed Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo. Government and security officials have been involved in high level preparations to ensure a smooth hosting of the two ocnferences.

The G77 conference is expected to follow soon after NAM. Police has announced road closures disorganizing thousands of Kampala residents. Entebbe Expressway, a major artery to the airport will be closed off paralyzing operations in the city.

  1. Uganda is privileged to host these two global conferences at the time when the West is hostile to us in regards to matters of our sovereignty; we welcome the visitors to the Pearl of Africa.
    The paralysis and disorganisation, we will bear for it is a cost to host visitors, much more delegates from other nations and world leaders.
