Kiplimo’s fall come before bronze
Abraham Kiplimo was rewarded with a bronze for his bravery at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Kiplimo won the bronze in the marathon on June 27 but he had to overcome an earlier fall.
He and teammates Philip Kiplimo, and Solomon Mutai had been controlling the pace of the race when Abraham Kiplimo tripped as he cut across to grab some water just before the half marathon point. He fell and took some time to get back running.
However, he bravely re-joined the lead pack along with team mate Philip Kiplimo, and Solomon Mutai who was making his marathon debut, and Kenya’s Stephen Chemlany, and Australia’s Michael Shelley.
In the end, it was the Australian Shelley who sccoped gold and Chemlany silver, while Abraham Kiplimo settled for bronze. Solomon Mutai who was just three seconds behind him was forth.
