Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Uganda Insurers Association is set to continue engaging the members of the business community about the relevance of buying insurance in line with their routine operations.
According to Philip Higiro, UIA public relations and membership manager, the decision has been informed by the great turnout of UMA Trade Fair showgoers who visited their tent to learn more about insurance at the just concluded Uganda Manufacturers Association. International Trade Fair. “As UIA, we can strongly say the Trade Fair was a success.
We have been able to engage different showgoers including the business community, students, and the general public on why they should take out an insurance package,” Higiro said. “The week-long event has been informative and we commit to continue telling the public that insurance is an enabler,” he added.
Higiro says they discovered that the information gap about insurance and how it works remains huge and that through sensitization, it can be bridged.
This was UIA’s inaugural participation at the trade fair as a sponsor and Uganda Manufacturers’ Association’s partner. UIA participated under the sub-theme’’ Welcome to the sure side of life. This was because the secretariat believed that the public needed to know that insurance offers a more secure way out should uncertainties occur. This year’s international trade fair attracted over 1,000 exhibitors and 30 countries.
