THIS WEEK: Accountants’ exam results show decline in performance
The latest examinations of accountants released by Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB) of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) shows a decline in performance by candidates.
The June 2017 examinations shows a pass rate of 44.3%, 4 percentage points lower than in November 2016 when the rate stood at 48.5%. The June 2017 examinations, like the ones released in the November 2016, covered three courses – Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD), Certified Tax Advisor (CTA) and Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA-U).
While releasing the results on June 28 in Kampala, Simeon Wanyama, a member of PAEB and ICPAU said that there were 286 candidates who sat for the ATD June exams compared to 313 candidates that sat in November 2016.
