THIS WEEK: Innovators get Shs30bn boost

Uganda’s budding innovations industry got a major boost when the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) announced that it had been allocated Shs30billion to support young innovators whose programs have stalled due to lack of funding.

Prof. Charles Kwesiga, the executive director of UIRI told the media after a three day science, technology and innovations retreat that of the Shs43billion that the ministry of science and technology received in the new financial year, Shs30billion would be for funding innovations.
