THIS WEEK: National dialogue to be held next year

The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda and the National Elders Forum have announced a roadmap for formal dialogue between major stakeholders on critical issues affecting the country where discussions will rotate around corruption, social welfare and governance.

The Chairman Elders Forum of Uganda Justice James Ogola said there is now goodwill from all the major political players on dialogue to shape the country’s future. According to him there will be several discussions that will culminate into a national dialogue in June 2018.

The call for a national dialogue started in 2016 when some members of the opposition and civil society organizations pushed for it as a way to remedy the country which was seen as going through a political crisis.
