THIS WEEK: Nawangwe to focus on staff issues as MUK VC
Newly appointed Vice Chancellor for Makerere University Professor Barnabas Nawangwe has promised to focus on harmonizing the university staff and administration when he assumes office in August.
Nawangwe also promised to diversify the university financial base by investing in the university’s idle land and engaging the institution’s donors. Nawangwe was selected to be the next VC by the University Council ahead of Professor Edward Kirumira, the principal of college of humanities and social sciences and former acting VC Professor Venansius Baryamureeba.
Nawangwe is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration. He scored 77% overall in a search process that involves a search committee, the University Senate and the University Council.
