THIS WEEK: Rwanda files charges against opposition leader
Rwanda | THE INDEPENDENT | A statement issued by Rwanda police on Sept.25 shows opposition leader Diane Rwigara has been charged with offences against state security and forgery.
Rwigara who expressed interest in standing against President Paul Kagame in the recently concluded elections was arrested on Sept.23 along with her mother and sister who are charged with tax evasion. The 35year old who says is a victim of political persecution was earlier arrested on August 30 on suspicions of tax evasion but released later.
