THIS WEEK: Umeme’s Babungi wins CPA Award
Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Umeme’s Managing Director, Selestino Babungi, was awarded the Certified Public Accountants of the year Award for the 2017 Financial Reporting Awards.
The awards were organized the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) aimed at enhancing the quality of financial and business reporting of Uganda.
Babungi won the award because of his relentless efforts of supporting seminars organised by the Institute; involvement in practical training programmes and mentoring young accountants, chief finance officers as well as maintaining high professional standards.
While receiving the award at Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe on Sept. 08, Babungi said that accountancy profession is fundamental for business growth in a country.
“I encourage other people to join the accountancy profession,” he said.
Other winners included Uganda National Roads Authority’s Manager for Auditing Catherine Asiimwe for the young accountant of the year Award; Nalendra A Taaka, Gold Service Award; John Muhaise, accountancy services award; Gerald Kasanya, Gold Services Award and Betty Kiganda, Gold Award winner.
